Chapter 15

Things weren’t looking up for Rick and Roscoe at all. Roscoe was ducking and dodging all bill collectors including the repo man. Rick wasn’t answering any of his other children’s mothers’ calls except Simone whom he spent the majority of his time with nowadays. There just wasn’t any money coming in and the little twos and fews that came through the crack house weren’t even enough to keep paying Jordan and Nitty to sale for them. All four young hustlers sat at the trap house this day as Roscoe prepared to break the news to Jordan and Nitty that they wouldn’t need them for a while as the work was slowing up and the packages had downsized tremendously.

“We gotta holla at y’all bout something,” Roscoe started right before his phone rang. He glanced at the number and saw that it was Trouble who had called him the day before, but he didn’t answered. Rick had warned him to stay away from a girl whose nickname was Trouble, but Roscoe disagreed. He was on his knuckles and didn’t have time or money to play around at the moment, but he didn’t want her to get away or lose interest either. He held up a finger to pause the conversation and decided to answer the phone and play it by ear. “Hello?”

“Hey,” Trouble spoke.

“Whassup? I’m glad to see you ain’t forgot about me.”

“Nah, I actually called you yesterday.”

“You did? I didn’t get a missed call,” Roscoe lied for no real reason.

“It’s cool…I ain’t tripping. What’s your schedule looking like?”

Just then there was a loud commotion coming from the front right before a thunderous boom.

“Police, police!” Boom! “Police, Police!” Boom!

Everybody scattered in confusion running in different directions as the front door became unhinged and police charged in yelling at the top of their lungs and pointing weapons. Roscoe was about to climb out of a window until he realized the police had already surrounded the house. Rick ran into a closet crawl space while Jordan and Nitty were in the bathroom trying to flush the drugs instead of tossing them in the acid like they were told. When they couldn’t flush the drugs fast enough Jordan swallowed the rest of them as officers rushed in and snatched him and Nitty to the ground. Eventually, they found Rick in the crawl space and brought him back out to the living room floor where the rest of his crew was stretched out in handcuffs.

“Why the fuck you thought you was gone hide in a closet?” One cop dressed in full raid gear said. “You don’t think we check fucking closets first stupid ass?”

Rick and Roscoe were on the floor sweating bullets. All they could think about was the double homicide that had been lingering in the back of their minds every day since it happened. Where was Ski? Rick thought. Had he gave them up or something? All types of thoughts rush through his mind as he lay on his stomach not saying a word.
